Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

I am so incredibly passionate about supporting clients in achieving meaningful growth. The reality is that change is hard, especially when we’ve existed on this earth for any significant amount of time and have learned our unique ways of interacting. Frequently, I find that we subconsciously set the stage to repeat unconscious ways of being to reaffirm deep rooted “truths”. If we were in person I’d be making the gesture for air quotes here because if we’re setting up relationships, of any variety (think: friendships, romantic, familial, career, you name it) to play out the same patterns… that would make those instance appear to be true… but are they really?

And here’s where Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) can come into the picture!

As I talk about on my page dedicated to Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), this work builds upon the healing modalities I frequently use. I’m prefacing that because PAT isn’t appropriate for everyone and if you’re someone who isn’t a good candidate for this healing modality you’re not on your own here. There’s still support and healing to be had!

But for those of you interested in knowing more, I’ve got you.

Through the use of PAT we can connect with our subconscious to take a peek behind the curtain, or under the rug, wherever your higher intelligence stashes it away. Through appropriate, low dose, use of these medicines our natural defenses are lowered so we can witness our inner workings.

When we gain clarity regarding our “why” we can compassionately change our “how”.

“Think of the brain as a hill covered in snow, and thoughts as sleds gliding down that hill. As one sled after another goes down the hill, a small number of main trails will appear in the snow... Think of psychedelics as temporarily flattening the snow. The deeply worn trails disappear, and suddenly the sled can go in other directions, exploring new landscapes and, literally, creating new pathways.” - Mendel Kaelen, a Dutch postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London.

This is the power of PAT. A peek behind the curtain and an opportunity to forge a new path. This is then worked with, therapeutically, with a trusted clinician to further support you in making sense of whatever you discovered on your journey.

The real trick is to then integrate or apply these knowings into your daily life. Just like traditional talk therapy, working with someone you trust and feel safe with is paramount. If you’re curious to know more about my approach with PAT I provide a free 30-60 minute consultation.

Regardless, you’re not alone on your healing journey and I am cheering you on every step of the way because *phew* being human and healing is hard work.
